Scientists at a European facility are closer to launching a major experiment that they have been anticipating for many years.

Officials at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland,  say that later this year they plan to throw the switch on what is arguably the largest and most complex scientific experiment ever conducted. In an underground ring of superconducting magnets, they will smash subatomic particles into each other with incredible force.  VOA's Paul Sisco reports.
