The body of the general who commanded U.N. peacekeeping troops in Haiti has arrived back in his native Brazil, while the United Nations says it is looking for a successor.

The body of Lieutenant-General Urano Teixeira da Matta Bacellar, who on Saturday was found dead of a gunshot wound in his hotel room, will be moved from Brasilia to Rio de Janeiro for burial on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the head of the U.N. peacekeeping department, Jean-Marie Guehenno, says Brazil's commitment to Haiti is strong and another Brazilian commander would be welcome to lead the Haiti mission. He said the mission is continuing to prepare for February 7 elections.

Haiti's presidential elections have been postponed numerous times because of violence and disorganization. Monday, businesses held a general strike to protest the security situation.
