Former U.S. President Bill Clinton says the United Nations should be given a greater role in restoring order and stability to Iraq.

Speaking Sunday during a brief visit to United Arab Emirates, Mr. Clinton said the U.N. should be put in charge of security in the war-torn country. He urged the United States to share responsibility for the rebuilding of Iraq.

The Bush Administration has proposed a multi-national force for Iraq under U.S. command. But France and Germany are pushing for more U.N. control over the force, as well as a quick transfer of power in Iraq to an Iraqi government.
