U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld says the main task for U.S. forces in Afghanistan is now to find the al-Qaida terrorist group and the Taleban leadership that sheltered it. So the Pentagon will continue the U.S. military effort even as Ramadan begins. The push into Kabul by the Northern Alliance may have changed the way the war is being seen around the world.
