European football (soccer) inspectors appraising a joint bid by Turkey and Greece to host the 2008 European Championship say they are satisfied with Turkish facilities. The delegation wrapped up a three-day tour of Turkish cities Tuesday. Delegation head Jurgen Muller says the stadiums, hotels and airports visited were good. The delegation is scheduled to begin its inspection of Greek cities on Wednesday. The governments of Greece and Turkey have backed the joint bid as part of an effort to improve traditionally hostile relations between the two neighbors. The European football governing body (UEFA) has received seven bids to host the event. The other bidders are Russia, Hungary, Scotland and Ireland, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Austria and Switzerland, and the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. UEFA's executive committee is to select the host in December.
