Nigerian authorities say two foreign oil workers have been kidnapped in the port city of Warri.

Security officials say kidnappers took the hostages late Wednesday. They say some of the kidnappers had been captured and had revealed where the victims were being held.

The identities of the victims were not immediately clear. Officials say one of the hostages is a British citizen. Police are investigating the motive for the kidnapping.

Nigeria's oil-rich southern Delta region was thrown into turmoil last week after ethnic Ijaw militants threatened to blow up oil facilities to protest the arrest of their leader.
