Home country rider Vitor Gamito captured Monday's sixth stage of the Tour of Portugal cycling race, covering the 136.5 kilometer stage from Fundao to Gouveia in three hours, 33 minutes and 29 seconds.

Gamito also picked up a 10 second bonus Monday. Rui Lavarinhas, also of Portugal, finished second in the stage to take over the race leader's yellow jersey. Lavarinhas was credited with the same time, and was awarded a six second bonus.

Ezequiel Mosquera of Spain was third, two minutes and four seconds behind the leader with a four second bonus.
