Unidentified gunmen in the Gaza Strip have killed former Palestinian security chief Moussa Arafat.

Palestinian authorities say assailants stormed the home of the former Gaza security chief and shot him dead in a pre-dawn attack Wednesday.

Further details were not immediately available.

Mr. Arafat, a cousin of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, was linked to corruption charges and had many powerful enemies.   He was removed from his post by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas earlier this year.
