The militant group Hezbollah has for the first time sent a reconnaissance drone on a flight over Israel.

The Lebanon-based group said Sunday the operation was in response to Israel's repeated violations of Lebanese air space. Hezbollah said it plans more unmanned surveillance flights over Israel in the future.

Hezbollah said the drone flew over populated areas in the north. Israel's military confirms that an Iranian-made unmanned aircraft operated by Hezbollah flew over northern Israeli.
