India's cricket team has beaten New Zealand by seven wickets to reach the final of the limited-overs triangular tournament in Colombo. The Indians will face host Sri Lanka in Sunday's championship match after finishing with three wins and three losses for six points.

Sri Lanka led the standings with four wins and two losses for eight points. New Zealand had two wins against four losses for four points.

Virender Sehwag scored a blazing century to lead the way for India. His rapid 100 of 70 balls was the second fastest century by an Indian in one-day internationals. It lifted his team to 267-for three in reply to New Zealand's respectable 264 for seven.

Sehwag smashed 19 boundaries and one six in his maiden one-day century. New Zealand's batting was led by Nathan Astle, who had a century with a 108. It was the 11th time in a one-day match he has scored 100 or more runs. Astle had nine fours in his 142-ball knock.
