Swedish officials say an Iraqi-born Swedish citizen held hostage in Iraq since January has been freed.
The officials gave no details of Minas al-Yousifi's release, and would not comment on whether a ransom had been paid.
Mr. al-Yousifi was kidnapped in the northern city of Mosul on January 28 by a group calling itself the Iraqi Vengeance Brigade. His captors released two videos in which he pleaded for his release.
Mr. al-Yousifi lived in Sweden for 20 years, before returning to Iraq after Saddam Hussein's ouster two years ago to lead Iraq's Christian Democratic party.
