Palestinian witnesses say Israeli forces have shot and killed four Palestinians during a raid on a town in the northern West Bank.

Witnesses say Israeli troops killed two Palestinian gunmen during the raid Thursday, including a local leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. The militant group is linked to the Fatah faction of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

In fierce exchanges of fire, two unarmed Palestinians were also killed and at least 10 others wounded.

In other news, Arab League foreign ministers met in Cairo Wednesday to discuss ways to revive the Middle East peace process.

Bahrain's foreign minister, Khalid bin Ahmed al-Khalifa, told the opening session that a new and effective mechanism from the United Nations Security Council is needed to re-launch the process.
