Two gunmen have killed a Philippine radio broadcaster on the island of Mindanao, the latest in a string of attacks on journalists since the country became a democracy in 1986.

Police said Tuesday that Armando Pace was at least the eighth journalist killed in the Philippines this year. A spokesman said Pace was traveling home from work in Digos City when motorcyclists shot him in the head and chest. Authorities say they are probing whether the shooting was work-related.

Pace was reported to have a string of libel cases against him.
