Authorities in Kazakhstan say police have arrested members of an al-Qaida-linked terror group.

Security officials say the group, which calls itself Community of Mujahaddins, planned to carry out terror attacks against top officials in neighboring Uzbekistan.

Officials say nine Kazakhstan citizens and four Uzbeks were among those arrested.

In March and April, 47 people were killed in Uzbekistan in a spate of suicide bombings, shootings and an explosion at an illegal bomb-making factory used by insurgents.
