John Kerry has accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president.

Mr. Kerry received a long, loud, standing ovation from delegates as he walked out to address the Democratic national convention in Boston Thursday night.

The senator was met on stage by crew mates from the Navy swift boat he commanded during the Vietnam War.

In the opening part of his speech, Mr. Kerry said he will never mislead the country into war, and will restore trust and credibility to the White House.
