The French football club Lyon and Real Madrid of Spain have scored victories to qualify for the second round of the Champions League tournament.

Both teams were 1-0 winners Wednesday to remain undefeated in the tournament with four victories each. Lyon edged Dynamo Kiev of Ukraine while Real Madrid needed an own-goal against visiting Steaua Bucharest of Romania in Group-E contests.

Lyon and nine-time champion Madrid joined Bayern Munich of Germany, English club Liverpool, PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands and Valencia of Spain in the round of 16 with two more games remaining.

AC Milan of Italy edged closer to the second round with a 4-1 win over Anderlecht of Belgium. Brazilian star Kaka scored a hat trick for Milan.
