Houston star Tracy McGrady scored 42 points to lead the Rockets to a 105-90 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks in Friday's National Basketball Association play.

McGrady netted 17 points in the first quarter to give the Rockets an early lead on the way to their ninth victory in 13 games.

The San Antonio Spurs notched their fifth straight win, trouncing the host Los Angeles Clippers 98-79. San Antonio has won 17 of its last 20 games and is off to its best start in club history, with a record of 25 wins against only six losses.

The Boston Celtics snapped a three-game skid, topping the Washington Wizards 108-103. Paul Pierce led the host Celtics with 26 points, including a key free throw in the game's final minute. Washington missed a three-point shot in the closing seconds to seal Boston's win.

Seattle made 11 three-point shots as the SuperSonics beat the host Charlotte Bobcats 103-97.

Other NBA winners Friday were the Nuggets and the Kings.

The Denver Nuggets edged the Philadelphia 76ers 97-92, and the Sacramento Kings defeated the Utah Jazz 109-102.
