The Philadelphia 76ers have taken a commanding two games to none lead in their National Basketball Association first round playoff series with the New Orleans Hornets.
Allen Iverson scored 29 points and Kenny Thomas added 17 points and 16 rebounds as Philadelphia beat the Hornets 90-85 Wednesday night. New Orleans played the game without star guard Baron Davis, who missed the game with a left knee injury.
In other first round playoff action, Canada's Steve Nash had 28 points and eight assists as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Portland Trail Blazers, 103-99. Dallas leads the best-of-seven series two games to none.
Five players scored in double-figures as the Detroit Pistons withstood Tracy McGrady and the Orlando Magic, 89-77. That series is tied at one game apiece. McGrady scored 46 points for Orlando; no other Magic player scored in double-figures.
