The Los Angeles Clippers are off to their best start in 20 years after defeating the Atlanta Hawks 102-95 in National Basketball Association action Thursday. The win gives the Clippers a 5-1 record for the first time since 1985. The Hawks, meanwhile remain winless in five games so far this season.

In Miami, Dwayne Wade scored 25 points to lead the Heat to an 88-84 home win over the Houston Rockets. Jason Williams and Alonzo Mourning each added 13 points for Miami, which evens its record on the season at 3-3. Houston falls to 1-3.

And in the only other game Thursday, the Detroit Pistons overcame an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit the to beat the Phoenix Suns 111-104. The victory keeps Detroit perfect on the season so far with a 5-0 record.
