The Dallas Mavericks came alive in the second half to remain unbeaten at home this National Basketball Association season.

Dallas grabbed a nine-point lead in the third quarter to beat the defending champion San Antonio Spurs, 95-92, Thursday. Forward Dirk Nowitzki scored 26 points to lead the Mavericks, and Antoine Walker added 22 points and 11 rebounds.

The Mavericks have won six straight home games this season, and beaten the cross-state rival Spurs twice.

In the league's only other contest Thursday, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Orlando Magic, 96-89. Seven Phoenix players scored in double digits to hand the Magic their 11th straight loss, and spoiled the debut of new head coach Johnny Davis. Orlando is off to its worst season start in team history.
