The Toronto Raptors are looking to a former Olympic basketball star to help the National Basketball Association franchise reach the playoffs.

Two-time Olympian Jorge Garbajosa of Spain joined the Raptors on Monday, agreeing to a multiyear contract. The two-meter, six-centimeter-tall free agent spent the past two seasons with Unicaja Malaga. The team won the 2005-2006 League championship and the Spanish National Cup. Garbajosa was the Most Valuable Player in the last two Spanish Cup finals.

Last season, the 28-year-old forward averaged nearly 15 points (14.8) per game and grabbed almost seven (6.9) rebounds per contest. During his 11 seasons in Europe, Garbajosa played for Italian power Benetton Treviso from 2000-2004, led by Phoenix Suns coach Mike D'Antoni.

Toronto missed the playoffs last season.
