In the U.S. National Football League, the Atlanta Falcons have crushed the St. Louis Rams 47-17 in a National Football Conference divisional playoff game.

The host Falcons were in control for almost the entire game, as quarterback Michael Vick and running backs Warrick Dunn and T.J. Duckett ran for a combined total of 327 yards and three touchdowns. Vick also threw for two touchdowns.

The Falcons will face the winner of Sunday's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings in next week's National Conference Championship game for a chance to play in Super Bowl 39.

Earlier Saturday, the Pittsburgh Steelers got by the New York Jets 20-to-17 in overtime to advance to their American Football conference championship contest.

Kicker Jeff Reed gave the Steelers the 20-17 win with a 33-yard field goal in overtime. Jets' kicker Doug O'Brien missed two consecutive field goal attempts in the final two minutes of regulation that could have beaten the host Steelers.

Pittsburgh faces the winner of today's game between the Indianapolis Colts and the host New England Patriots in next week's American Conference Championship game.
