A group of Pakistani journalists has arrived in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir on a first such visit since India and Pakistan gained independence from Britain in 1947.

The visit has been organized by the South Asia Free Media Association, a non-governmental organization that works across South Asia.

Head of its Pakistani chapter and delegation leader Imtiaz Alam said Monday the journalists want an objective look at the situation in the disputed region.

Mr. Alam said the delegation plans to meet with all Kashmiri people, including government officials and separatist leaders.
