Pakistani officials say Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will visit Islamabad this week during his Asian tour.

The Foreign Ministry says Mr. Abbas is to meet with President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz during his one-day stay Thursday.

It says they will focus on the latest developments in the Middle East peace process and recognition of Israel.

Pakistan, a conservative Muslim nation, has no diplomatic ties with Israel. Islamabad demands that the Jewish state end its occupation of Palestinian territories and give Palestinians the right to an independent homeland with Jerusalem as its capital.
