The widely popular U.S. cable TV program about mobsters, The Sopranos, has been nominated for 15 Emmy awards.

James Gandolfini and Edie Falco, who play husband and wife on the show, were both nominated for the best lead acting role in a drama series.

The Sopranos won the Emmy as best dramatic show in 2004. It ended a six-season run on HBO last month.

Nominations for the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Thursday in California. The awards show is set to be broadcast on September 16.

Kyra Sedgwick, who helped announced the nominations, was herself honored with a nomination for outstanding lead actress in a drama series.
