Skier Marlies Schild has led an Austrian sweep of the podium at the season-opening women's World Cup slalom race in Levi, Finland.

The 25-year-old Schild captured her seventh World Cup slalom win by finishing with a combined time of one minute, 45.66 seconds in foggy conditions.

Olympic silver medalist Nicole Hosp was second, (1:46.46) while Kathrin Zettel of Austria was third (1:46.83). It was the first Austrian sweep of the podium in a women's World Cup event since 1990.

Last year's slalom champion, Janica Kostelic of Croatia, is sitting out this season to recover from back and knee injuries. Olympic slalom champion Anja Paerson of Sweden, who is recovering from knee surgery, finished a disappointing 12th in Saturday's race.
