Due to the shortage of foreign currency in the country, the Zimbabwe Electricity supply authority, has failed to raise an estimated 143 million us dollars owed to regional power suplliers.

This has resulted in the current power load shedding, which has mainly affected industries in the country. The acting chief executive officer of the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries, Mr. Farai Zizhou, says this has had negative effects, even leading to the closure of some industries.
