Guyanese police are investigating the deaths of an American missionary couple along Guyana's southern border with Brazil.

Authorities say the body of Richard Hicks was found inside the couple's burned house in San Jose and his wife, Charlene, was discovered dead outside.

Officials say the couple worked for several years with the Wapishiana tribe and had been trying to translate the Bible into the group's language.
