The United States and Kosovo have signed the first official agreement on U.S. economic assistance to the Balkan country.

Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu said Monday the agreement shows the commitment of the United States to helping Kosovo.

The assistance will be used primarily to support infrastructure, transportation and education in the country.

President Sejdiu said the financial assistance will present a special stimulus for the quicker development of Kosovo.
