A plan to build a fence along the U.S. - Mexico border has been one of the hottest controversies in Texas for some time. U.S. President George Bush signed a bill in 2006 authorizing the construction of more than 1,000 kilometers of fence aimed at preventing illegal entry into the United States from Mexico. And now, with Texas at the center of the U.S. presidential race, the issue is back in the spotlight. Steve Mort reports for VOA from the border city of Laredo, Texas.
