The German soccer coach Burkhard Ziese has returned to Accra to lead King Richard Kotey's beloved "Black Stars" of Ghana.

The 59-year-old Ziese signed a one-year contract, terms of which were not disclosed. "Money is not an issue," said VOA's "Gallant Ghanaian," King Richard Kotey. "What is important is that Burkhard has the respect of many of the veteran Black Stars."

Ziese previously led the Black Stars in 1990 and 1991. He says he will try to bring in Ghana's top European-based professionals and mix them with domestic players to form a powerful Black Stars squad.

While Ghana has lifted Africa's Cup of Nations trophy a record-tying four times, it has been more than 20 years since the Black Stars won their last title.
