Palestinian witnesses say Israel has fired missiles into the Gaza Strip, killing a teenage boy and a woman.

The Israeli army has confirmed striking a location where it says militants fired rockets at Israel.

Witnesses say at least three others were wounded in the strike in northern Gaza.

Also Tuesday, Palestinian lawmaker Nabil Shaath said negotiations to end Israel's Gaza offensive have resumed.

Shaath said a deal could involve the release of several hundred Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails in exchange for an Israeli soldier captured by Palestinian militants in June.

Israeli officials have said they will not negotiate a prisoner swap.

Since the end of June, when Palestinian militants seized the soldier, Corporal Gilad Shalit, Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire in Gaza have killed more than 150 Palestinians

Israel moved into Gaza after Palestinian militants captured the soldier on June 25.

Israel says its offensive is aimed at freeing the soldier and stopping Palestinian rocket attacks on the Jewish state.
