Despite the government?s ban on rallies and demonstrations, Thursday, the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, said it planned to call a two-day strike in July, to protest  low worker salaries.

The union's president, Lovemore Matombo, is quoted in the online news source Zimonline, as saying that the ZCTU will continue to stage protests every three months there after, unless government matches workers' salaries with the country's inflation levels, currently at more than 3,700%.

Senior programs manager, Phillip Pasirayi, of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, told reporter Patience Rusere of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe, that the union should maintain pressure on the government to take workers? plight more seriously.
