China has unveiled its new core of top leaders in a once-in-a-generation transition that will see the president and other senior Communist officials hand over power.

The new seven-member Standing Committee of the Politburo, named at the 18th Communist Party Congress in Beijing, will face the challenge of tackling rampant corruption, energizing a waning economy and asserting China's influence in the world.
