Burundian police beat and fired tear gas at protesters. The political situation in Burundi has sent tens of thousands of Burundian refugees across the borders into neighboring countries. Aid agencies say up to a 100,000 people, many of whom are women and children, have escaped to Tanzania, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. VOA's Vincent Makori reports and later talks via telephone to Teresa Ongaro, UNHCR spokesperson, from Nairobi, Kenya.
