The movie "12 Years a Slave" was based on a book written by Solomon Northup, a black man from New York who was kidnapped and taken to Louisiana as a slave in the mid-19th century. The descendants of Northup and those involved in his story came together recently to promote racial reconciliation on the very ground where he once lived as a slave. VOA's Greg Flakus has more.
