P.J. Crowley, former assistant secretary of state for public affairs, and Mark Simakovsky, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, discuss the ramifications of the ongoing impeachment inquiry into US President Donald Trump after a crucial Congressional vote approved the rules for a public phase. At the heart of the inquiry is a July 25 phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which the Trump Administration withholds and then conditions the release of vital aid to Ukraine on the nation’s willingness to conduct investigations into former Vice President Joe Biden, Mr. Trump’s political opponent, and conspiracy theories about the 2016 elections.
