Large Crowds gathered in the heart of Hong Kong for a pro democracy protest on the evening of the 65th anniversary of the founding of Communist China. The atmosphere was festive and calm. There was virtually no police presence save for the officers guarding the government buildings. Activists say the attacks by police with pepper spray and tear gas on Sunday night has actually brought more people out to support the protesters.
