A group of researchers from the UK announced that there is now a second HIV-1 patient who is undergoing a sustained remission from the virus, months after stopping antiviral therapy. Like the first patient who has been in remission from HIV since 2009, this second patient was treated with stem cells that came from donors who carried a genetic mutation of an HIV receptor called CCR5.
