Researchers, who analyzed data gathered by NASA's 2011-2015 MESSENGER mission to Mercury, have found evidence that the planet's inner core is solid as suspected. Scientists previously only had slight clues as to whether Mercury's inner core might be solid. The planet's outer core is made up of liquid metal, just like Earth's.
