A UK based team of astronomers say they have found evidence of a large number of upcoming supermassive black hole mergers. Before they merge, the intense gravity of the black holes draws them close and then orbit each other forming what is called a binary black hole. A supermassive black hole can have a mass that is equal to millions, if not billions, of suns.
