Researchers have verified a 2015 discovery of a meteorite impact crater 1 kilometer beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet's Hiawatha Glacier. With a 31 kilometer diameter it is among 25 biggest impact craters on Earth. The researchers also say that it was the first time an impact crater of any size had been discovered buried under a continental ice sheet.
