Campus police at Emory University in Atlanta have arrested a 21-year-old female student for allegedly threatening a mass shooting at the school.

The suspect, identified by the sheriff's office in Newton County, Georgia, as Emily Sakamoto, was accused of posting the threat on a social media site Sunday.

"I'm shooting up the school. Tomorrow. Stay in your rooms. The ones on the quad [quadrangle] are the ones who will go first," the note said. Students immediately called campus police.

No other details about the suspect or the motives for the alleged threat were released.

The incident occurred less than two weeks after a gunman killed nine students at a small college in Oregon, the latest in a long line of school shootings in the U.S.

President Barack Obama has told U.S. voters to reject any political candidate who opposes what he calls common-sense gun laws.
