Based in New Delhi, Dewatsang runs an architectural practice providing, ‘efficient, environment conscious, and economically viable design solutions to residential housing, hospitals, hotels, and industrial units across India.’ Besides his professional work, he takes a keen interest in Tibetan affairs and has worked with his sister Tinlay Choedon, on social and educational projects in Tibetan settlements. Dewatsang served in the 14th exile Tibetan Parliament, is the current chair of the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce, and is the author of Flight at the Cuckoo’s Behest, a biography of his late father. He tells VOA that Tibetans should not be afraid to study creative fields such as architecture, which he says are not difficult if you have the interest and determination.
