3 Dead, Dozens Trapped in Mumbai Building Collapse

Indian officials say a multi-story building has collapsed in the financial capital, Mumbai, killing at least three people.

Emergency workers have rescued more than 15 people, but dozens more are believed to be trapped in the rubble.

The building is owned by the city's municipal government and most of the people who lived in its apartments were city employees.

Building collapses are common in India, because builders often use substandard materials and multi-story structures are often built without adequate supervision.

At least 10 people were killed in June when an apartment building near Mumbai fell down.

In April, 74 people died in one of the worst building disasters in India's history, when a building being illegally constructed in a Mumbai suburb gave in.
