The militant group holding three U.N. workers in Afghanistan says it has given the government a list of 26 Taleban prisoners it wants to swap for the hostages.
The statement was made Sunday by a man who claimed he is a spokesman for the group called the Army of Muslims. He said the Afghan government has until Tuesday to release the prisoners.
The government has refused to confirm if there have been any negotiations with the abductors.
The militants abducted the election workers late last month and threatened to kill them unless all Taleban prisoners in U.S. custody are released, and U.N. operations and foreign troops are pulled out of Afghanistan.
The hostages are a man from the Philippines and women from Northern Ireland and Kosovo.
