Keller Loaned to Southampton

update

U.S. National Soccer team goalkeeper Casey Keller has been loaned to the southern English football (soccer) club Southampton in a four-week deal with Tottenham.

Keller has played in only two games for Tottenham this season after Paul Robinson took over as the North London club's starting goalkeeper. The 34-year-old Keller will spend one month at Southampton and is eligible to start in Saturday's match against Portsmouth.

Southampton's starting goalkeeper Antti Niemi, and reserve keeper Paul Smith are both sidelined with injuries. Third-string keeper Alan Blayney has played in recent contests, including a 5-2 League Cup loss to Watford.

Keller has played for Millwall, Leicester and Spain's Rayo Vallecano before joining Tottenham in 2002. He has made 67 appearances for the U.S. national team, including posting 33 shutouts.
