A new national survey has found that U.S. voters feel good about newly re-elected President Bush, but are uncertain about his policies.
The New York Times / CBS News poll of 885 adults conducted last week and released Tuesday found that 56 percent of respondents were optimistic about Mr. Bush's next four years, and that his job-approval rating is now 51 percent - its highest level since March.
But 54 percent of those polled said they believed the country is heading in the wrong direction, with only 44 percent saying they approved of Mr. Bush's foreign policy and only 40 percent liking his handling of the Iraq situation. Just over half said they were uneasy with his ability to deal wisely with international crises.
On economic issues, only 42 percent approved his handling of the economy and 52 percent said they were uneasy with his approach.
The survey had a margin of error of three percent.
