Former Heavyweight Boxing Champ Bowe Out With Injury

A shoulder injury will keep former heavyweight boxing champion Riddick Bowe out of the ring Saturday for a bout with Kenny Craven in Louisville, Kentucky.

In a statement Thursday, promoter Chris Webb said Bowe hurt himself while training either Monday or Tuesday. Bowe was to fight the relatively unknown Craven in the main event on a seven-fight card. Webb said a medical scan on Wednesday showed Bowe has some damage in his shoulder.

Webb said he is searching for a replacement for Bowe, who is expected to remain in Louisville with the hope of taking part in a January bout.

Bowe has 41 victories with 33 knockouts and just one loss. Craven has a record of 25-13 with 22 knockouts.
