US Men’s Under-20 Soccer Team Wins Qualifying Group for World Youth Championships

The Unites States under age-20 men's soccer team has won its regional qualifying group for the World Youth Championship tournament in the Netherlands.

Chad Barrett and Danny Szetela each scored to give the United States a 2-0 victory over Costa Rica Sunday in Carson, California. The United States, which qualified Friday for the world championship tournament in June with a victory over Panama, won its CONCACAF group outright for the first time with the win over Costa Rica.

Earlier, Panama advanced with a 3-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago. Panama and Costa Rica each had four points in the group but Panama advanced on goal difference. Alvaro Salazar scored twice in five minutes while Luis Gallardo also scored for Panama.
